New sign in screen

Use your keyboard to move between the box for username and password with the Tab key. To sign in after enter your password, hit Enter.

Version 1607 includes a new sign in screen. You'll be greeted by the time and date along with a landscape photograph, this is the Lock Screen. To proceed, click the mouse or press space on your keyboard. Then enter your username and password.

Start menu redesigned and streamlined

"The Start menu once again is changed. It contains the same functionality, but it’s GUI is streamlined. Instead of seeing the text labels for Documents, File Explorer, Settings, and Power, you just see their icons on the left-hand side. Instead of having to hit All Apps, you now see the app list right away with recently added, most used, and suggested apps up on top. Then there’s a full alphabetized list of all your apps below that. The live tiles still remain on the right-side of the start menu." http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles-tutorials/windows-10/whats-new-windows-10-anniversary-update-version-1607.html

Improved GUI and functionality of the Settings app

"After browsing around the Settings app, you’ll find some new settings and functionality along with some reorganization of the menus and settings. After opening the Network & Internet settings, you’re now greeted with a Status page, which includes shortcuts to additional settings in the traditional GUIs." http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles-tutorials/windows-10/whats-new-windows-10-anniversary-update-version-1607.html

Managing Printer Settings

Printer settings have changed a bit in 1607. You now have a manage button on each printer that allows you to change your default printer (if you're setting it manually) and the ability to manage your printing default preferences such as 2-sided, color, hole punch and staple.

New update settings allow you to avoid delays during work times

"The timing of Windows updates has always been an issue and even more of a concern with Windows 10 since updates by default are all automatic unless a management platform like Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or System Center Configuration Manager is utilized. For Windows 10 Pro users, there was already the defer updates option, which delays updates for about four months by putting the PC into the Current Branch for Business (CBB) queue." http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles-tutorials/windows-10/whats-new-windows-10-anniversary-update-version-1607.html

Windows Ink

First, find the Windows Ink Workspace, your canvas for all the ink-powered features and apps on your PC. The Workspace has built-in experiences like sketchpad, screen sketch and Sticky Notes, as well as apps optimized for pen use.

Press the Windows Ink Workspace button in your system tray at the bottom right of your screen! If you don’t see the icon, right-click anywhere in the system tray and click on “Show Windows Ink Workspace Button.” https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2016/10/10/windows-10-tip-getting-started-with-the-windows-ink-workspace/

Action Center Is More Convenient and Customizable

It’s easier to get to the Action Center. The Action Center button is now located at the far right corner of the taskbar, making it easier to find. It’s no longer mixed in with the other system tray icons. Notifications are now grouped by app in the Action Center. They’ll take up less screen space, and you can see more notifications at once.

You can now quickly dismiss notifications in the Action Center by middle-clicking them. Middle-click an application’s name in the Action Center and Windows will dismiss all notifications associated with that application.

These notifications are now more customizable, too. Under Settings > System > Notifications & Actions, you can now choose whether an application’s notifications are considered “Normal,” “High,” or “Priority” in the Action Center. You can also choose how many notifications can appear at once for each application. Each application can display three notifications at a time by default.

Moreover, the Quick Actions at the bottom of the Action Center are finally customizable. Head to Settings > System > Notifications & actions and you’ll be able to customize exactly which quick action buttons appear here. The Wi-Fi quick action will now take you to a list of available networks rather than toggling your Wi-Fi on or off, something Microsoft says confused a lot of people. http://www.howtogeek.com/248177/whats-new-in-windows-10s-anniversary-update/
